Why blazedog.com ?

Blaze at Yellowstone 2006

Blazedog.com is named after our Yellow Labrador Retriever named Blaze.  We adopted Blaze when he was seven weeks old.  He’s now  15 years old and still in good shape for an old dog.   Blaze and I have walked about a mile every morning for the last few years.  Even today as soon as he thinks I am ready for a walk he will scurry to the front door and even sometimes dances around like a puppy.

Who am I?

My name is Rob Jordan and I employed as a software engineer near Phoenix, Arizona.  I have over 17 years of experience testing software on Windows, Linux and embedded systems. I have spent most of my career writing tools to automate testing of software.

My wife, two daughters and Blaze moved to the Phoenix area in 2004 from Southern New Hampshire. It felt like the moonshot; I accepted my job on the first of April, my wife and I bought a new house on Mother’s Day after she spent a weekend here.  We sold our house and moved 2,800 miles from New Hampshire to the Phoenix area. The moving truck pulled up to our new house the 2nd week in July; it was about 110F outside.  The summers are brutal but we really enjoy the rest of the year.   Since we move to Arizona we have explored large parts of the country we would not have had easy access to from New Hampshire.   Some of our favorite places near home in Arizona are Glen Canyon, Bryce Canyon, Roper Lake State Park, Zion, Moab, and Durango, Colorado.
